Nelson Riesling Ice Wine 2008

“This stunning medium sweet wine with aromas of orange blossom and sweet mandarin, combines real succulence and drinkability. The palate is very clean and refreshing with concentrated citrus fruit characters alongside nicely ripened acidity.”

This estate grown wine was grown on selected rows of our own sustainably certified vineyards. The cropping rate was kept low so as to intensify the fruit character and add complexity to the wine. Very ripe clean berries were harvested late in the season with a high sugar level of 23.5° Brix.

In the winery the juice was put into a heavily refrigerated tank and cooled down to –7°C. At this temperature the water that is naturally in the juice turned to ice and clung to the side of the tank leaving concentrated grape juice in the centre. The concentrated juice was then transferred to another tank for a slow cool fermentation. That ferment was stopped by chilling the wine at 9% alcohol leaving the wine with a high residual sugar level of 85 grams per litre.

This wine has been sealed with a screw cap closure in order to ensure the quality and integrity of the wine

This is a perfect aperitif wine.
