It has been a very steep learning curve, challenging and at times daunting, but we have backed ourselves 100% to achieve the goals we have set. We are now not just one of Nelson’s top wineries but we now have a big reputation both within New Zealand and overseas.
In 1992 Gary and Valley Neale returned to Nelson after eight years of expatriate life. They brought with them a burning passion for fine wine and a desire to make it.
Their objective was to establish a vineyard and winery in Nelson that would be considered to be among New Zealand’s finest.
Valley looks after finance, compliance, excise duties, export documentation as well as all the usual administrative duties that go with a small business. But her favourite is the cellar door.
When not attending to management duties as CEO, Gary takes care of sales and marketing.
