Bella our Wine Dog at Brightwater Vineyards

Cellar door dogs have been synonymous with cellar doors as long as cellar doors have been opening. Books have featured these four-legged friends for years. Here at Brightwater Vineyards our 18-month-old teenager is Bella. She is a Border Collie / Poodle cross (Bordoodle?) She is an absolute delight and so cuddly and always ready to…

Bragato Gold

Brightwater Vineyards 2014 Nelson Pinot Noir has just been awarded a Pure Gold Medal at the Bragato Wine Awards in Blenheim this week. This follows on from the Gold Medal the same wine received at the Spiegelau International Wine Competition held in July.

But the standout of the vintage will be the Chardonnays.

Two Golds at NZIWS

We’re delighted that two of our wines have been awarded Gold Medals at the New Zealand International Wine Show – one of New Zealand’s most prestigious wine competitions with the head judge being Master of Wine – Bob Campbell.

Vintage 2014

The season started off hot and early. The weather in November and December were more like our usual for February – hot and dry. Flowering was early and the grass dried to brown. Unfortunately for the holidaymakers the weather didn’t continue into January which was a little cooler and rainy. It came right again in February.
